DIY Citrus Coconut Body Scrub

I’m so excited to introduce Jessica Senn, Fierce Forward Ambassador, a wife, a mother, blogger at Pursue Within and all around fierce wonder woman (she owns a pink muscle car)! Today she is guest blogging and sharing her Coconut Body Scrub with us!

Salt scrubs are a great way to exfoliate dead skin cells and give your skin a healthy glow! This recipe is so easy you can make a few jars at a time and give them as gifts to the women in your life!

Epsom salt is wonderful because it relaxes your muscles, reduces inflammation and exfoliates. As an added bonus Epsom salt is loaded with magnesium and your skin absorbs the mineral as you use it!

I love coconut oil because it is rich in proteins, which are great for skin health! It’s a fantastic moisturizer and your skin easily absorbs it.

You can sub out the lemon scent with any other citrus fruit or essential oil. The reason I chose lemon is because it is a natural mood lifter.

You will need:

  • ½ cup Epsom salts (Sea salt or Kosher salt can be substitutes for Epsom)
  • ½ cup Coconut oil (Olive oil, Almond oil or Jojoba oil can be substituted in)
  • Juice of a lemon or orange and or Essential oil drops

If you are mixing this by hand, warm the coconut oil prior to mixing it. If you’re using a mixer you will not need to warm the oil. In a bowl combine the oil and salt and mix it together. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the bowl, removing any seeds. If lemon or orange doesn’t appeal to you, any essential oils can be used. Use about 20 drops of an essential oil that suits your taste. Ashley also has done a body scrub with grapefruit and peppermint here.

Some of my favorites essential oils include:

  • Lavender – for relaxing
  • Peppermint – for energy
  • Vanilla – Uplifting scent
  • Grapefruit – Boosts motivation

Once its mixed put in a small jar. If I’m giving this as a gift I put a little fabric on the lid. I also love this ball jar, DIY Scrub Gift presentation above!

Try experimenting with different scents. If you come up with any good combinations, I want to know about them!

Much love,

Jes
