I took a deep breath and began with a quote that touches me every time.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~Marianne Williamson
It was in the prayer labyrinth shaped into a heart that the girls laid down as I guided them in meditation after our warrior-posing yoga class. As the music led them, I intentionally looked at each of them and then I looked up. This place we called our home for the week was pure magic. The Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico was nothing short of breathtaking and the fire it possessed in its land, in its mountains, in everything that was a part of it, this fire lit us up. The fire continued to breathe life through the openness these women carried with them, through their connection to one another, through journaling their fears and sharing with one another and finally, through creating their fierce each day. Below are just a few photos from the Retreat and the Fierce Shifts that occurred with the women that attended, in their words. The 2016 Fierce Forward Retreats will launch signups in early November. WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST SHIFT MOMENT AT THE FIERCE FORWARD RETREAT?
Michele Barnes: I took away that in order to move on you must let go, live in the moment and be yourself. I need to take time to focus on me and my purpose. And that being me is okay. I am me and that is my power.
Alison Cockrum: I needed to believe in myself and in order to do that I needed a group of people who wanted me to succeed and believed in me. Being there showed me it is what you send out that returns to you. And by sharing my true self and letting others know what I needed, I found myself.
Rese Wilson: I walked away from that trip with a clearer mind and heart, as well as a renewed sense of what I wanted and who I wanted to be. And of course the biggest bonus. I walked away with an amazing group of friends who I know will live in my heart for the rest of my life.
Lindsey Bomgren: Biggest shift – sharing my story with other women who are battling the same things I am..and then just letting it be and just being authentically me and being present for 3 days in the dessert!
Donna Eduardo: I have learned to take time for myself. And I’m trying to carry that over into everyday of my life. In a nutshell, I felt this: I didn’t change, I just found myself.
Kaseedee Jermain: My biggest shift…realizing I’m not alone in this , I can get through and I am strong, capable and will be successful and of course crying…..who knew I could love you guys so much after 3 days!!!!
Jennifer Legendre: I’m living for the now….Today. I’m at peace with what I left behind. I’m being kinder and forgiving of myself. I’m motivated to do me!
Anna Coelho: I took away that everyone has something they struggle with. Everyone has fears. It made me feel stronger to know that I’m not alone. I have Fierce sisters who believe in me and I believe in them too!
Kylie Jo Graham: I told Ashley when it rains the universe is cleansing and renewing its soul. When like minded souls share and bare their all nothing could be more renewing or cleansing. It’s a connection that is everlasting and ever moving forward.
Amanda Brown: For me the connecting with myself, the earth and all of you amazing women was what helped my shift. I was the whole experience not just one thing but I had to really be open, raw and real.
