Turmeric & Ginger Morning Detox Shot


I started adding this shot to my morning routine on Monday’s & Fridays, after practicing Sun Salutations for my Yoga Certification (currently underway!). I love the idea of nourishing my body with nutrients from food & spices that will help me in my daily effort of being good to my body, mind and spirit.

I tend to shrug my head when I see claims of something that will completely detoxify your body and this Turmeric Shot kept coming up on Pinterest claiming to be a detoxifier. I looked into the benefits of Turmeric & Cayenne (see here) and feel that if anything is good for you, you should most definitely add that to your diet when you can. I’m not claiming this will completely detoxify your body, but it certainly will aid in the removal of toxins due to the Turmeric, Ginger & Cayenne and how they are antioxidants. At first, it was really bitter by following the regular Pinterest Recipes and so I added my own twist. By adding the Pineapple & Orange Juice, it helps the bite of the Turmeric & Ginger go down the shoot. Comment below, have you ever tried one of these shots and if so, do you make it often? Enjoy!


Turmeric Morning Detox Shot

  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Tbsp Cayenne Red Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Cup Pineapple
  • Small piece Ginger
  • Splash Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice (not pictured)
  1. Squeeze the juice from a whole lemon & orange, put juice in blender first.
  2. Add Cayenne, Turmeric and pineapple on top of juice in blender.
  3. Peel a small piece of Ginger and grate it into the blender.
  4. Blend and pour into shot glass.
  5. Take shot.
